After spending 7 great years in Winnipeg, we moved to the southeast to assist with a family business venture. In 1994 I joined the fire department and am still serving as the Fire Marshal. My wife of 30 years, also a Canadian, is a Paramedic with a local county service. Both daughters, born in Canada, are grown up and finished their US college education. My home town is Toronto, wife's is Port Colborne and both daughters born in Cambridge, Ontario. We get back as often as we can, usually twice per year. Enjoy bumping into the many Canadians that live and work in the southeast.

I've been in Ohio Since Nov 91, I came here on a Free Trade visa to work as a nurse for Ohio State University, and have since became a landed immigrant. I have remained in the Delaware area for the past 13-yr., and have worked as a nurse case manager in number of positions. I came with my two children, the eldest, which returned to Ontario and has married this year and the youngest which graduated in May of this year from Ohio Wesylan University. I married here in 1999 and my husband passed away in March of this year. The rest of my family remains in Canada, and I try to return home every two months to Southern Ontario.

I am a committee member on the International Azalea Festival and Canada is the most honored nation! We had the opportunity to listen to the East Village Opera Company Rock Band and they were a smash! I have enjoyed listening to their CD. I look forward to spending more time learning and getting to know Canada! I am from the great state of Minnesota which as you know, borders Canada. I feel very connected and have many Canadian friends. If you ever get the chance to visit Norfolk please take the time to check out one of the many upcoming events during the Azalea Festival and enjoy being a part of an honored Nation for the upcoming Internation Azalea Festival 2006!

Leslie and I met on the Internet in November 1997. We got to know each other, I was in Alberta, she was in New Jersey. We fell in love and once we decided to get married, we went through the process of me entering the United States on a Fiance visa. We were married in Dec 1998. We had no idea what was in store for us, but got through the maze of regulations, and as of April, 2004, I'm now a US citizen. Our 7th wedding anniversary is next month! Going through immigration was a real learning process, as we got through it, I realized we had valuable info to pass on to others who might follow in our footsteps. I created a webpage of our experiences. Feel free to contact me for details :)

I left Toronto on Labor Day weekend 1991, bound for Costa Rica. Over there I met some Americans who needed an extra person to sail their 47' ketch to Tahiti. From there I sailed on various yachts all the way around to Florida. Worked on the yachts as a professional first mate, then returned to my own profession which is Writing. I am now a freelance writer and publicist, owner of my own business, Amphibious Productions Inc. working for the New World Symphony, trying to connect with Canadians in the Miami area to invite everyone to our great concerts at the Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach.

My name is Shauna Dell. I am originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and resided in New Brunswick for several years working with Revenue Canada in the area of income tax audits and reviewing Scientific Research and Experimental Development claims. I was drawn to the U.S. to pursue career opportunties in the US tax area with the aspiration of someday having my own business providing Canadian and US Tax Services. I have recently developed my own web-site at www.dellconsulting.net and would welcome and contacts from this site. I have been living in the U.S. for almost six years and currently work as a CPA in the Estate Tax practice of a law firm located in Providence, Rhode Island.

I generally visit Canada at least once a year in the Ottawa area for a family reunion. My brother, Robbie Dell, is in Winnipeg, my sister, Nanette Dean, in Ottawa and my mother, Paula Dell, in Sydney. My father, Robert Dell, unfortunately passed away unexpectedly two years ago in Toronto. So, my ties to Canada and desire to connect with other Canadians is very important.

Hello fellow Canucks! I've been living here in the US for 7 1/2 years now. I have a wonderful wife and a 7 month old son (born here). My wife and son are both American, and we are going to work on his Canadian citizenship in the next few months. I visit Newfoundland no more than once per year. I'm a nurse who now works in the Nursing Informatics field. I love my job, and I don't think I would ever get anything like my current position back home in Canada. Would love to hear from fellow Canucks, especially Newfies, here in the US.

I was born Fredericton, New Brunswick and grew up in Moncton. My Canadian roots go back at least 4 generations and consist of a mishmash of farmers, fishermen and school teachers originating from Scotland and Loyalist New England. I graduated from MUN with a degree in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering in 1999 and, because marine industry jobs were/are scarce in Canada, I followed most of my classmates south to the US. The original plan was to make enough money to travel and pay off my student loans while getting enough work experience to land a good job in either the growing East Coast offshore industry or with the government in Ottawa. I spent a few years living in Maryland working as a consultant on a US Coast Guard icebreaker project before moving to Philadelphia and joining the design department at Aker Philadelphia Shipyard (formerly Kvaerner). Last year I married a local Pennsylvania girl and the shiny new green card in my wallet means I probably won¿t be heading north any time soon. Other than a fellow expat cousin in Boston and an Aunt that winters in Florida, my new in-laws are my only American family. I try to get home to the Maritimes every year for Christmas and for a long weekend in the summer as well as the occasional wedding or funeral. I miss my friends, family and the simplicity and charm of the Maritimes but this is where life has taken me and I now associate the Flyers and cheese steaks with home as much as I do lighthouses and poutine.

Semi-Pro Hockey in East Tennesse

My brother and I grew up in Inverness, Nova Scotia. We now live and work in Knoxville, TN for the Knoxville Ice Bears of the Southern Professional Hockey League. It may not be the NHL, but the guys are talented, mostly from Canada, and play with a lot of heart.

We've been in Knoxville for a little more than 10 years. Although my brother played college hockey in New Brunswick, I didn't follow hockey that closely until I moved here. Its hard to keep in touch with your Canadian roots in the States, but being involved with Hockey helps.

If your ever in the area and would like to see a game call 865-525-PUCK and ask for Todd. I enjoying hearing from Canadians and will do my best to get you some good seats.

My husband and I are both Bluenosers from Nova Scotia as well as Dalhousie University alumni. We moved to Columbus, Ohio 9 years ago after I finished grad school. We love the area but miss the ocean.

This year we hosted a Northen Border Party on Canada Day. A good time was had by all, Canadian music, a Maritime BBQ'd bologna (just sorry it wasn't Larson's brand)with good Moosehead beer. My husband played soccer in his younger days and was sponsored by Moosehead Breweries in Nova Scotia and we were thrilled we could buy Moosehead beer here, although it isn't bottled in the Maritimes.

We do support the local NHL team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, got some good Maritime coaching staff with some former Mooseheads players. Yes, my husband wears his Moosehead's jersey to games and the other Canadians can find him easily.

We were surprised at the number of friends who had not been to visit Canada, especially since Windsor, ON is only a 3 hour drive. We've encouraged them to take the trip. Then there are the fishing and hunting friends who love the isolated Canadian woods and lakes...no cities for them.

Finally, we are happiest about Tim Horton's popping up throughout the area here. Wendy's (headquartered in Columbus, Ohio) bought them and started building them here. We have Canadian friends owning and operating here in the Columbus area as well.
