My family and I first came to the US because of my father's job transfer when I was 9 -- and 15 years later, we're still here! I went to boarding school in Connecticut, only to discover that a neighbor from Pierrefond had recently graduated from the same school! I graduate from University in Pennsylvania in 2003 (although I did spend a summer taking classes at McGill -- what fun!) and currently work as an Admission Officer at a selective school in central NY, where I get to recruit students from -- where else?!? Somewhat ironic that I'm encouraging Canadian students to come to school in the states when I'm trying to move back across the boarder!

I have been back to Montreal virtually every summer since we left, and now make it a point to visit once every three months now that I'm only four hours away! My immediate family is still in Connecticut where we first moved; and at one point, all the women (my mother and I) were Canadian citizens while the men were Americans (I have a younger brother that was born right after we moved). It made for interesting family discussions... until my mom was naturalized a few years ago! I have US residency now and am looking to move back to Montreal when my contract is up in May.

My name is Steve, and I am now living in Bramwell West Virginia as a Full Time Christian Missionary with an Organization called Global Outreach.

I am originally from Burlington ON and then lived in Ottawa for 3 years before moving to Calgary AB where I lived for 11 years before moving to West Virginia in October 2005.

I love it here in West Virginia as it reminds me of home especially in the Fall with all the bright colors (Eastern Canadians will understand). I do miss my Maple Syrup, Tim Horton's Coffee as well as chocolate like Coffee Crisp and Smarties. Also they don't have perogies down here which I really miss.

I would love to hear from other Canadians in the USA. While I love it here and will be here for years to come I still call Canada home. Feel free to email me.

Hi. My name is Gail and I live in a small town on the coast of CT. We are about half way between New York and Boston. We have been here since the fall of 1993. My husband and two children and I initially moved to Philadelphia in the fall of 1991 for a great career opportunity for him. He worked on the northeast corridor high speed Amtrak project as an electrical engineer. We came for 3 years and obviously are still here. My husband is now working in Taiwan on another high speed rail project. We decided to keep our home in the US as our girls wanted to attend college here to get a good education but almost as importantly, to be able to play competitive hockey at the college level. It's in their blood, of course! They started skating in Canada at age 3 and have never looked back. Even though the girls were only 5 and 7 when we moved here they still identify themselves as proudly Canadian.

We are orginally from Grand Forks, B.C. We don't get back as often as we did when we first moved to the US and life has become busier. We have family there so it is a constant debate of whose turn it is to visit. We do love to get to Montreal. It was always interesting to go with the girls' hockey teams for tournaments. A teaching opportunity always presented itself!

We have met some wonderful people here and the girls have had great educational opportunites via scholarship programs offered at private schools especially for women's hockey. We do miss Canada though and plan to return someday.

Twenty years later I am still here, have gone through 1 husband, several address and have fallen in love with NYC. What I miss about Canada - Coffee Crisp candy bars - I mean chocolate bars, my family and people who know what "Saskatchewan" is.

I was born in Toronto in 1927, brought up in Amos, P.Q. for several years. Back to Toronto. Taught French and Spanish at the U of Calgary, then at CUNY in New York. Retired and moved to south Texas in 1989 -- Port Lavaca. Periodically return to Toronto to visit my niece and visit other locations (UTS, Jane & Annette, etc). Have a small Canadian flag flying in my living room. If you're in the region, drop in.

I arrived in the US in mid 1992. Economics really brought me to the US. I was able to find employment at twice the going rate than in Canada with less taxes :(

High tech people are in high demand in both countries right now. I live in MN, where they're as about as close to Canadians as you can get :) Great people here and they've made me feel at home.

I go to Canada at least twice a year. I also stay up on all the news from Canada. This includes the latest deployment of our brave men and women to Afghanistan, our election and the goings on in various cities.

I'm pretty much alone in the US, but I've been made part of the 'family' in MN. I do miss everyone back home. I imagine someday I will return.
