Apres avoir vecu 15 ans aux Etats-Unis je suis devenue citoyenne americaine hier, le 4 octobre. Mariee a un americain depuis 1991, j'ai attendu tout ce temps. Dieu merci, le Canada accepte la double nationalite.

My Wife and I just celebrated our sixth year here in Atlanta (Kennesaw). We came with a 1 year old son by way of Regina where we lived for 8 years. My wife is from Winnipeg and I was raised in Orillia, Ontario. We now also have a 2 year old Georgia Peach!
Like many, we came for the money, opportunity and the winters. I can say that I have not been disappointed! The people here are warm, open and friendly. Since starting a business coaching business here 2 years ago I have had even greater opportunity to experience U.S culture and hospitality.
We try to stock up on Cheeze Whiz, Smarties, Coffee Crisp and Aero bars when we go back to Canada. And yes, we miss Hocky Night in Canada, seeing local Canadian bands (Kim Mitchell, Blue Rodeo) - but most of all we miss "Tim Hortons". Good day, eh!

Merci

I was born in England but moved to Canada at the age of three. My husband and my two boys were all born in Ottawa. A year and a half ago, my husband was offered a job within his company in San Jose, CA. We decided to make it an adventure as the job had a two year term. We packed in a lot of travelling, covering large parts of California, Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam in Nevada, and cruising around the Hawaiian Islands. We have just returned to Canada this week and I am so glad to be home. We are also happy to be able to get Smarties for the boys and Tim's Coffee again whenever we like! Thanks C2C for giving us a way to keep in touch with home while we were away.

This is an update to my first post. I have met a wonderful Realtor on the Connect to Canada website. Her name is Janet Woodgeard. I now work with Janet at Exit Realty Platinum. This has been a wonderful opportunity for me. If anyone is ever requiring the service of a reliable Real Estate Agent please go to our website at www.exitrealtyplatinum.com and send me an email. Exit is a Global company so I can refer you to an agent in your area. Well I am heading to Canada on Sunday for a two week vacation in Ottawa. It is my yearly trip to stock up on my VH sauces and get my fill of Poutine. The ladies at the Bingo hall are awaiting my return. Please feel free to send me an email.

I moved from Bowmanville, Ontario in 1990 to Tarpon Springs, Florida. I attended my senior year of high school and followed my dream of becoming a Major League Baseball Player. I went on to play baseball in college but never turned pro. I graduated from the University of South Florida in 1995 with a BA in Marketing. I went to work in Florida selling advertising and transferred to Los Angeles, California in late 1998 with 3M Company. I spent 7 years with 3M and finished an MBA at the University of California Irvine in 2003. In 2004 I went to work for Staples and in late 2005 I was relocated to Minneapolis MN. I am now here in MN as a District Sales Manager with Staples.

After being awarded a fantastic scholarship from Howard University, I thought life would be great, and yet, I feel empty because I miss home: My Tim Hortons, Red Rose Tea and Coffe Crisp. I would love to meet any fellow Canadians in the surrouding area, just to give me a memory of home.

I stumbled upon this website while looking for a Canadian embassy in my city, and I never believed there were this many Canadians here in the US! I have been in Dallas for about 3 years now, studying fashion design and now I am trying to begin my immigration so I can stay, work and be with my Texas-born fiancé. I was born, raised and lived most of my life in Montreal, and I miss it terribly! I always try to go home as often as I can to see my family because I am the only one in the US. I look forward to meeting other people from home!

I met my American husband through mutual friends when I was living and working at the Keltic Lodge resort in Ingonish, Cape Breton about 5 years ago. My job there eventually because a year round position even though the resort was seasonal. However, one Cape Breton / Northeast Highland winter did me in and I ended up moving to Massachusetts 2.5 years ago. After growing up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, moving to the Boston area was a bit of a change - mostly the traffic! We just got married back in Ingonish last summer and I do try and get back more than once a year. I am a fiddler / step dancer so the Canadian American Club in Watertown, MA helps keep me grounded and gets me my "fiddle music fix", espeically when they have people from home playing! I will admit I am not a Dunkin Donuts fan and I miss my Tim's but I now get a can of ground Tim's coffee as gifts several times a year. I did get my green card a few months ago, but I have no intentions of changing over my citizenship as I am hoping that eventually, my husband and I will make our way back to the Maritimes.

In 1986, I moved from Montreal to Connecticut to work at ESPN, after working graphics and statistics for both CTV (Sports) and HNIC. In 1991 I moved to Chicago where still to this day I freelance for all the networks including TSN, SportsNet, ESPN, FOX, ABC, NBC and CBS.
My life became even a bit more interesting two years after moving here, when I met a man named Johnny Washington. At first he and I just talked about the previous night's game and about other subjects in the news. Six months after our first rendezvous, I found out that Johnny Washington, wasn't just Johnny Washington, but, MR. JOHNNY WASHINGTON - former Negro League baseball Legend who pitched for both the Chicago American Giants and the Houston / New Orleans Eagles!
One thing led to another where today - supported by my sports graphics background - I started a web site on his behalf called; www.NegroLeagueLegends.org. Here Mr. Washington and many other former Negro League baseball Legends receive royalties for their appearances or for the selling of their autographs to fans worldwide. Sort of like a 24/7 Trade Show!
Already many of the ball players have appeared on TV, radio and have been featured in a number of newspapers and magazines both here and in Canada. Many have even met the Great NHL Hall of Fame Legend, Robert Marvin "Bobby" "The Golden Jet" Hull!!
Speaking about legends, how many of you knew that many of these famous Negro League Legends, "barnstormed," throughout Canada? It's not only Jackie Robinson who made his professional start in Canada (Montreal). But many others as well including All-Star catcher, Ira McNight (seen here on the front row, left of this team photo of the the Saskatchewan Commodores). Thanks to the Western Canada Baseball web site!
Ira - who today lives in South Bend, Indiana - is a good friend of mine and who over the years had made some extra money up in Canada, and at a time when the Canadian Dollar was worth a heck-of-a-lot more than the US Dollar!
