I grew up outside Boston but spent most of my early summers on my grandparents' farm in rural Nova Scotia. I am a dual citizen and did my undergrad degree at St. Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia then lived in Halifax for a couple years before moving to Newfoundland for my Masters Degree in Folklore.

I ended up in Victoria BC for a few years with my wife, who's from BC, before moving back to Boston in 1998. I make my living as a musician/storyteller specializing in the songs/stories of the Canadian Maritimes.

I moved to San Francisco, CA in 1998 from Sarnia, Ontario as a result of a job offer from a large apparel company. I had lived in Ottawa most of my life and had three grown sons from my first marriage. About a year or so after moving to the Bay Area, I met and fell in love with an American women. We continued dating when I was transferred to New York City in 2001. The company I was working for went out of business three months after September 11. However, I found a job in Sioux City, IA working for an insurance company and asked my girlfriend to marry me. We were married in 2003 and currently live in Huntington Beach, CA. We live about a mile from the ocean and enjoy all that the area has to offer us in terms of hiking, camping, bicycling, concerts, theatre, baseball, and our favorite new team, the Anaheim Ducks. I still have a connection with Canada where my roots and family still lives. In retirement, we hope to split our time between our two countries.

After completing my Elementary Education/Special Education degree at the University of New Brunswick, I came to the United States with a recruiting company. Initially, I was only coming to finish out the school year and here I am, seven years later.:) My first year here in Greenville, South Carolina, I met my husband, who is from Austria. We travel home to Newfoundland every year and sometimes, I am fortunate enough to get there twice a year. The problem with going home is that I tend to get homesick when I get back and seem to go through a transition stage each time. It has gotten easier over the years and I think having a good group of friends makes all the difference. However, as much as I do like living here in Greenville because it is an international city, Canada will ALWAYS be home to me. All of my family live in Canada and I think always will. I am the only one in my family living out of the country. I have a new baby girl who I will be applying for Canadian Citizenship for this summer when we go home for our yearly visit.

I came to the Bay Area by way of Switzerland as a software developer. After twenty years the start-up was a big company and I decided to go back to school to get an M.A. in English Literature. Thanks to Air Canada's non-stop from SFO to Montreal, I visit friends and family in Montreal about four times a year. I love Berkeley and San Francisco, while part of my heart is in Montreal. If only we could merge the two, I'd be in heaven.

I moved to North Carolina 5 years ago. I met my husband online in a Christian web based site. I was born and raised in Alberta. Things are VERY different here in the South. I miss SO many Canadian things. I would LOVE to be able to get in the car and go to Tims'. Cannot find a box of Smarties or a Oh Henry! I could do without the severe weather and would rather have a blizzard anyday. I miss my home country, but this is where I am for now. When my husband retires we will move to Canada. I miss my grand daughters so much !

I left the "motherland" to attend a small liberal arts college in Indiana back in 1998. Here, I met my wife (U.S citizen) and the rest is history. Well, here's a bit more of the story. After getting my B.A. I went on to graduate school in Colorado and then in 2006, moved back to the midwest for a faculty position at a private, liberal arts college in West Michigan. So, being from Southern Ontario and having a wife from Northern Indiana, I'm literally right between the two families here in Mighigan. I'm still a Canadian citizen, but a few years ago went through the hoops to get permanent residency in the States. I love Canada and love going back across the border to see family and friends. I have a 17-month old son who I am going to get Canadian citizenship for pretty soon. It might just be the best gift I ever give him!
