Passeport Canada a préparé un aide-mémoire relatif aux demandes de passeport pour les Canadiens vivant aux États-Unis. Selon Passeport Canada, près de la moitié des demandes provenant des États-Unis sont rejetées en raison d’erreurs communes et évitables. L’aide‑mémoire comprend une liste des problèmes les plus fréquents et les façons de les éviter. Il traite entre autres des photos, de la preuve de citoyenneté canadienne, des documents d’identité à l’appui, des droits afférents, des répondants, des références et des renseignements personnels. Exposition photographique « Reconstruire l’Afghanistan »
L'équipe LienCanada
L’Agence canadienne de développement international a lancé récemment l’exposition photographique « Reconstruire l’Afghanistan »; une exposition de photos illustrant les réussites en matière de développement en Afghanistan. Elle constitue une histoire visuelle fascinante qui montre le courage et la détermination des Afghans qui s’efforcent d’améliorer leur vie et celle de leur famille.
L’exposition a été présentée dans de nombreuses villes canadiennes et est maintenant offerte en ligne. Les photos nous permettent de prendre conscience de l’aide que le Canada apporte à toutes ces personnes. Elles témoignent des progrès réalisés. Elles racontent des histoires d’espoir. Des histoires qui nous inspirent fierté pour le travail accompli par le Canada dans ce pays.

Examen des exigences liées à l'Identification des voyageurs aériens de moins de 18 ans et prolongation de la dérogation

L'honorable Lawrence Cannon, ministre des Transports, de l'Infrastructure et des Collectivités, a déclaré aujourd'hui que la dérogation au Programme de protection des passagers annoncée en juin serait modifiée et prolongée jusqu'au 31 mars 2008, en attendant les consultations réglementaires sur les exigences liées à l'identification des voyageurs aériens de moins de 18 ans.

La Gendarmerie royale du Canada (GRC) et la United States Coast Guard (USCG) participent, conjointement, à un projet pilote baptisé Shiprider 2007, un projet qui vise à prévenir les activités criminelles transfrontalières et à renforcer la capacité d'intervention des deux pays sur la voie maritime du Saint-Laurent. Shiprider propose une approche véritablement intégrée en matière d’opérations conjointes d’application de la loi dans les eaux canadiennes et américaines.

L'âge des ténèbres de Denys Arcand représentera le Canada aux Oscars, a annoncé hier Téléfilm Canada. Téléfilm Canada présidait le Comité de sélection du film canadien soumis aux Oscars. Les Oscars feront connaître les cinq films mis en nomination pour l'Oscar du meilleur film en langue étrangère au mois de janvier.
